Whether you’re a complete beginner, would like to brush up your skills or have specific projects in mind, this class is right for you. You can choose to follow our popular Beginners Sewing Course or bring your own projects, it’s up to you, classes are always kept small enough to allow everyone to be doing something different.
In the beginners course, you will start off making a simple cushion cover then you can choose to move on to one of the other tutor led projects – for example a tote bag, skirt or basic patchwork quilt – or choose a project of your own.
The class price includes materials to make your patterns, access to Carolyn's ever expanding 'scrap box', and some threads, however you will need to provide materials of your choice for your finished items.
If you can bring your own sewing machine that would be ideal, however Carolyn does have a couple available to use in class however you need to check that these will be available before booking by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or by making contact through social media.
For the first class you will need to bring with you fabric to make your cushion if you intend to follow the beginners course – you will need about half a metre of any fabric you like, or 2 'fat quarters'. Cotton or poly cotton is a good beginner fabric, but you can bring anything you like, they are YOUR projects. It would also be useful to have a tape measure, scissors for fabric and paper, thread to match your fabric and pins, however there will be some you can use in the class if you don't have any of these.
If you want to come along and just do your own thing, that's great, just bring with you what you'd like to work on. If you could also just drop Carolyn an email / chat on social media about your plans so we know what to expect and can bring anything that might be helpful to you.
The first block starts on THURSDAY 31st May and runs for 5 Thursdays, 6.30-9.00pm. £65 per person
Classes take place in ‘The Venue’, 84 High Street, Laurencekirk
